How2019
What do surgeons and journalists have in common? How do you start your own recording studio? What's it like to do your PhD?
In 2019 I finished releasing 10 podcast episodes (and two quasi-episodes), seeking to uncover what allows some people to resonate with their careers. The answer? It was nothing revelatory, just hard work, being presented with opportunity, and having the drive to pursue that opportunity. However, the absence of a grand discovery was something of a grand discovery in itself. Life's not going to give your own personal eudaimonia GPS; if you think you're lost, just keep learning.

Speaking of perspective, here's 10 unique perspectives below. Listen, re-listen, and let me know what you think!

Ep#10: Radio Interviewing | Inform, entertain, and amuse, with Don Connolly
You may have been asked at one point or another, "what do you do for a living?". But for many people, how you want to live influences what you do, at least a little more than the reverse.
Long-time host and interviewer on CBC's Information Morning, Don Connolly is one of these people. For him, a job in radio was a way to complement lifestyle, not define it. Well, that was the original story anyway. Queue up this episode, to learn how Don grew with his career, developing a passion along the way. |

Tamsyn Burgmann flew from Vancouver, to Japan, then all over South East Asia, broadening her love of journalism along the way. Find out how she got there and what she's doing now in the dynamic field of journalism. |
Ep#6.5: The Introduction, with Michael Sime
There's no better time to introduce something, as when you already have some context. How2 is a podcast about career and life satisfaction. Listen in each episode, as I try to hone in on what makes people content with how they earn a living, and at what cost. |
Ep#6: Audio Engineering | Provide a service, with Simon Larochette
Operating a recording studio involves a diverse range of skills; being an entrepreneur requires resilience and heavy time involvement.
So how can one person manage to do both of these things day-in and day-out? I wasn't sure, so I asked Sugar Shack owner and operator, Simon Larochette. Listen as Simon describes what it's like to run a studio, and the dedicated process to make it all work |
Ep#5: Political Science | Simplify the complicated, with Marc Trussler
Politics is polarizing. People either love or hate talking about it, or maybe they even hate that they love talking about it.
